1998 Boys Team News

At the HNNS tournament in Cleveland on July 9, the 1998 boys team took home the championship trophy. The day was very hot and muggy and the boys persevered through the hot weather to keep the ball on the ground and controlled the majority of the games. In a hard fought final against Milwaukee Croatia, the boys won by a score of 1-0 on a goal by Ivan Misic which clinched the win. Thank you to the parents for driving the long distance to the tournament and a special thanks to asst. coach Mark Visic for manning the bench during the games and keeping the boys motivated throughout the day. Congratulations boys!

The 98 Boys team clinched the SRSL Premier League Cup title on Saturday Sept. 18 with a 3-1 victory over Dixie Athletic. The coaches, Mark Visic, John Srblej and Michael Jezerinac are proud of the team's accomplishments this season and wish to thank the parents for their continued support. Well done boys!

The MCSC 1998 boys team have had a tremendous season. The boys played in 5 tournaments this summer placing as finalists in both the COVI and the Collingwood tournaments and winners at the HNNS tournament in July competing with other Croatian based teams from Ontario and the northern US. The boys also finished 2nd in the Premier division in the South Region Soccer League with the lowest goals against average in their division with only 9 in 14 games. The boys are also playing as finalists for the league cup to be held on Sept. 18th.

The team participated in camping trip in Collingwood that was a fantastic experience for players and families alike as well as participating as ball carriers at the Rogers Centre (photo) for the Juventus - Fiorentina friendly match. Thanks to the parents for their continued support!

The boys are planning a family dinner event on Friday September 24th at the Croatian Martyrs church hall located on 4605 Mississauga Rd. in order to raise funds for their trip to Europe in 2 years where they are planning on entering the Vukovar Memorial Tournament where academy teams from all over Croatia and Europe come to show their talents in this annual event. Please support the boys in their efforts to raise funds for their trip in order that they can enjoy this wonderful experience in Europe. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased from any member of the U12 boys team or at the door.
